Increased tension in his
family folowing his mother's death caused Lennier to leave his hometown
of Telim to begin a career as an adventurer. Lennier's goal is to learn
more about the lands around the Free Cities and perhaps to explore the
Kingdom of Rilian to the south and the Elven Alliance to the north. Soon after leaving Telim
(one of the shires of Mavel), Lennier arrived in Underwolde on the
northern shore of Lake Hosset.
There he worked for several months as a
guard in Baron Ridel's keep, before meeting the elven woman Ruenna. She hired Lennier to deliver
a chest and a message to a group of adventurers in Temmervale, as well as to
deliver some goods to the owner of the
Temmervale general store. Lennier was paid well by
the Adventurers of Temmervale for delivering the chest to them, and was
invited to join their adventuring group. Lennier went on to help
the adventurers retrieve the rosewood chest from the Kobold Hills, and then he
returned with them to Underwolde, where he witnessed the Heartstone
become part of Aramil. When his
adventuring companions departed Underwolde for Hosset, Lennier stayed
behind to take care of some "unfinished business". He eventually caught
up with his friends again in the forest town of Loria. Description: Lennier is five feet eight inches tall
and weighs 165 pounds. Unusually for a half-elf, he has blue eyes and
dark brown hair. Lennier travels light, usually carrying little more
than his spell component pouch, a sword and a shield. Lennier has a
reputation amongst his companions for charging into dangerous battles,
but his courage/recklessness is usually appreciated by his
companions.
Equipment: Lennier wears leather armor and carries
a light wooden shield. Unfortunately, these impair his spellcasting
ability, causing him to occasionally miscast spells. Tucked into his
belt, he usually has a dagger or two, and a wand of light. Recently, Lennier was
given a gleaming blue longsword named Thundermane's
Bringer of True Death. This weapon was once carried by the brave
warrior Roldar Thundermane, one of the Guardians of the Heartstone
during the last invasion. On the hilt of the sword are the two dwarven
runes for 'thunder' and 'beard'. According to the wizard Pholos, the
enchanted weapon is especially effective against undead creatures.
Family:
Both of
Lennier's parents were half-elven. His father — a merchant — still
lives in the town of Telim with Lennier's younger sister (aged
nineteen). His
mother died fairly recently after a long illness. Although Lennier gets
on well
with both his father and his sister, he was closer to his mother, while
his sister has a closer bond with their father.
Several times before her
death, Lennier's mother mentioned a family 'secret' that she wanted
Lennier to know. Unfortunately, she never expanded on these cryptic
comments, and
the one and only time the half-elf confronted his father about the
'secret', he flew into a rage for several hours. During his second stay in
Underwolde Lennier prayed to Silfey, goddess of fate and oracles, for
guidance. He saw a vision of his parents — much younger — being
attacked by a huge, bulbous winged insect. In the vision, his mother
used a burst of magical energy to kill the creature. Witnessing this,
Lennier's father backed away from his wife, an expression of horror
etched on his face. Lennier chose not to reveal the details of this
vision to his travelling companions, telling them only that he saw his
parents in his vision. Background: Since leaving Telim, Lennier has worked as a sword-for-hire, while also keeping his ears and eyes open for trading opportunities that might benefit his family. During his first visit to the town of Underwolde, Lennier honed his skills with the longsword under the tutelage of Marshall Franks. |
