Miya of Temmervale
(played by Lee)
MiyaMiya is a young elf who aspires to join the Holy Order of Paladins. As a child, she was found by an innkeeper wandering alone in the forests near Temmervale. He took her in, and she lived through four generations of human innkeepers during her long childhood. Miya was approximately 30 years old when she was found, and is now roughly 127 years old.

Since reaching the elven equivalent of adulthood, Miya has felt that she has a calling and a purpose. She decided that she should join the Holy Order of Paladins which serves the Kingdom of Rilian. Despite the fact that the Holy Order is usually restricted to humans, Miya believes that she will not be prevented from joining if that is what her heart truly desires.

When the opportunity came for Miya to join her childhood friends Aramil and Kaktai on quest, Miya agreed immediately. Since leaving Temmervale, Miya's spiritual powers have grown, and she has had many exciting adventures, including witnessing Aramil bond with the legendary Heartstone.

In the forest town of Loria, an elven priest named Iathar told Miya that her path did not lie with Toros, patron god of the human paladins, but with Corilis, the elven god. The priest told her that it was Corilis' will that she be reunited with her missing horse, Storm. Despite rejecting Iathar's claims, Miya appreciates her new-found bound with Storm. She remains troubled by Iathar's words, and is now less certain of her destiny.

Description: Miya has emerald green eyes and dark black hair, which she wears long. She stands five feet one inch tall, and weighs 104 pounds. Several people have commented that Miya carries herself with noble bearing, and this impression is enhanced by her beautiful mithril chainmail. The overlapping sections of the armor are forged in leafy patterns, and the links on the frontpiece have been shaped to form a perfect rose.

Horse with riderAnimal companion: A few months before Miya left Temmervale, her adopted father gave her a fine horse named Storm. During Miya's first few weeks adventuring, Storm demonstrated intelligence and courage in battle. However, despite his usual bravery, he bolted when the demon-hound attacked Miya on the road to Underwolde.

Miya next saw Storm in a vision, after being placed in a trance by the strange plains-dwelling alaghi. In the vision, she saw Storm drown in a murky swamp. Upon reaching Loria, an elven priest told Miya that it was Corilis' will that her steed (whom he called 'Arwenis') continue to serve her. He told Miya that she would be able to call Storm to her side once each day, and that he would travel from the celestial realms to be with her. Miya was grateful to be reunited with Storm, and the special bond between them has now grown even stronger.

Equipment: Miya's most striking equipment is her elven chainmail of the rose. This enchanted armor is made of very fine mithral links, and was a gift to Miya from the wizard Pholos of Mura-Lenn. Miya is usually heavily armed, carrying an impressive greataxe and a composite longbow. She always carries at least one dagger, often  enchanted. In her backpack, Miya keeps a necklace of fireballs and the whistle of the eyrie. She is also the keeper of all of the Heartstone shards that the group has collected. These are stored in a sturdy metal box which latches closed.

A big axeFamily: As far as Miya can remember, she lived in Temmervale all her life. She has no recollection of her parents. Yawrin Lark – the great grandfather of Oren Lark, the current innkeeper found her in the nearby forest as an infant, and adopted Miya as his own.

In Underwolde, after seeking guidance from Silfrey, goddess of fate and oracles, Miya had the following vision:

Two elves, dressed in the manner of nobles, are walking just ahead of an elven girl. The youngster is perhaps thirty years old and barely four feet tall. Tears roll down the face of the elven woman. The man tries to comfort her and says 'it is for the best'. The two elder elves hurry away from the child as a human woodsman approaches.

Miya is not sure if this vision relates to her childhood abandonment.

Background: While life in the mainly human settlement of Temmervale was not too hard for Miya, she lived through four generations of human parents. This left her with a deep sorrow for the short lifespan of humans but also a healthy respect for all forms of life.

Miya helped run the inn Pride of the Vale for the last two human generations. Her chores at the inn kept her busy, but she became close friends with Aramil and Kaktai. She also learned basic combat arts, and developed a keen interest in horse riding. When Miya's spiritual powers began to manifest, her adopted father, Oren, became very nervous. His gift of a horse to Miya may have been a gentle hint that it was time for Miya to see the world.
