Phrostbat
(played by Warren)
PhrostbatPhrostbat is a half-elven druid. He has lived in the wilderness for most of his life, with only wild animals and other druids for friends. Born in Alderthorpe, Phrostbat eventually came to be living in a cave, not far from the village of Temmervale.

Although Phrostbat shunned contact with most people, he became friends with Aramil, Kaktai and Kaylah.
Increased kobold activity in the area had begun to make it the woodlands a difficult place to live, so when the opportunity came to join his friends on a quest, Phostbat gladly did so.

In the time since he left Temmervale, Phrostbat has lost friends, and left other friends behind. He has witnessed Aramil becoming joined to the Heartstone. His magical abilities have grown in leaps and bounds during his travels, and he has had to learn to adjust to spending more time with other people.

Description: Phrostbat is one of the tallest of the companions, at five feet nine inches tall. He weighs just 120 pounds and looks a little stick-like and spindly. He has green eyes and dark brown hair. Because of his rural nature, the druid tends to have an unkempt and wild appearance. Despite this, he is a healthy and hardy individual.

Animal companions: Phrostbat's closest companion is an intelligent and nimble cat, named Faryx, who has helped the young half-elf out of more than a few close scrapes. Although Faryx is sometimes a useful scout, some of Phrostbat's companions still view the cat as a bit of a nuisance. How Faryx and Phrostbat first met.

While visiting Underwolde, Phrostbat obtained a horse names Beldaran. In return for his help with the construction of several new houses to the north of Underwolde, Baron Cantor allowed Phrostbat to choose a horse from his stables. The druid chose Beldaran, a friendly (and naughty) tan/grey piebald mare.

BagEquipment: Although he prefers magical combat to physical combat, the druid knows how to use a sling and often carries a dagger and a quarterstaff. He usually wears light leather armor, which protects him against the elements, as well as from would-be attackers. After trading his beloved bag of holding for several Heartstone shards, Phrostbat obtained a robe of useful items, which he now wears.

Family: Phrostbat memories of his early childhood are not clear — he remembers only that he ran away from home at the tender age of six. However, while visiting Underwolde, Phrostbat prayed to Silfey, goddess of fate and oracles. He recieved the following vision:

Several dark-cloaked figures enter a house in a quiet town street. Shortly afterwards, a man's voice yells "run boy, run" and a young lad runs out of the door. A while later, the cloaked figures also leave the house. Behind them, flames can been seen dancing up the curtains towards the thatch.

Some time after this, while the companions were visiting Loria, Ruenna revealed that she may have uncovered some information about Phrostbat’s parents. Although many of the Friends of the Land's record have been destroyed in the intervening years, she has discovered that there was an agent of the Friends of the Land active in Alderthorpe at about the same time as Phrostbat ran away. Her name was "Reandra Mayweather". The agent was married and had a son, but there is no record of their names.
This particular agent survived an assassination attempt, but was left badly scarred as a result of severe burns. Her son and husband died in the fire and the agent chose not to have the scars healed to mark their passing. The  current whereabouts of Reandra is not known, but as far as Ruenna can tell, she is still alive – there is no evidence of her death.

Background
:
During his first few years in the forests, Phrostbat was visited frequently by a old elven druid, from whom he learned to survive by living off the natural resources the forest has to offer. As Phrostbat grew older, visits from his elven mentor grew further and further apart, and he has not seen the old druid for more than three years now.

Living in the woodlands, Phrostbat has become familiar with all kinds of wilderness lore and he has an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of nature. He has learned to put together poultices and herbal remedies from plants and materials found in the forest. He has keen senses, enhanced by his part-elven heritage, and he shares a unique empathy with many woodland animals. A few years ago, he spent some time learning the craft of gem-cutting from a lone traveller passing through the region.
